The Thurston Lava Tube's guitarist, Alan Jenkins, recorded Free Surf Music #1 in 1998. It was released on vinyl L.P. by Sorted Records. You can buy it from the Cordelia shop if you want to. Amongst those who play on it are Blodwyn P. Teabag on organ, Marshall Cavendish (of The Freed Unit) on bass, and Aaron Moore (of Volcano The Bear) on drums. |

Then Alan Jenkins and Blodwyn P. Teabag recorded Free Surf Music #2. This one has been "released" on vinyl L.P. by Pink Lemon Records. For this album we changed drummers to Ewan Rodger - and Johnny Pacino took over the bass guitar half way through. |

Alan, Blodwyn and Johnny recorded another album in the Free Surf Music series. This one is called, yes that's right, Free Surf Music #3. Jeremy Barnes (of Neutral Milk Hotel and Bablicon) played the drums on this one. It hasn't been released. Maybe it never will be. |

None of those drummers were available to be in the band full time - they were either already in seven other bands or they lived in America, or both. But at the end of 2000 we found a regular drummer (Mat Bartram was previously a member of Brotheroach and also plays with Don's Mobile Barbers) and at that point we started rehearsing regularly and occasionally playing gigs. We've made these three albums since then. Marshall Cavendish replaced Johnny Pacino at the end of 2003. This is a photograph of the actual moment when Marshall replaced Johnny...
So now, I'm afraid, we look like this:
That's Mat on the left (I don't know why he's got a gun), Marshall, Blodwyn with a big star, and Alan. |
